What is one thing you cannot live without?
A purpose. I think that in order to (really) live, it’s important to understand what you want to get out of life. For me, that’s figuring out how I can continue to contribute in meaningful ways professionally and personally.
What is your favorite holiday?
St. Patrick’s Day. There’s something about bagpipes, people dressed as leprechauns and green beer that really appeals to me.
On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most), how serious do you take life & why?
Probably 5. I can be pretty serious when I need to be but I also know that if you can’t laugh and joke every now and then you’re really not going to enjoy what you’re doing.
What is your favorite color?
I became impartial to color when I was in college and learned about the importance of not showing favoritism on my projects. I guess that sort of stuck with me over the years. I do have half a dozen or so different light blue dress shirts though. Coincidence?
What is your camera & lens of choice?
Sony A6000. I love how portable and powerful that little camera is.
What is your favorite zoo animal?
It used to be Penguins for obvious reasons but my last trip to the Omaha Zoo helped me appreciate prairie dogs much more. They’re just so curious, popping up from random holes in the ground as people walk by. Not to mention the freedom they have compared to the other animals. They have the choice to be on the other side of the walls of the zoo, yet they stay.
What would be your best achievement to date?
I have a hard time acknowledging my achievements because I feel like once I do that I’ll become comfortable and lose sight of my goals.
What is the last thing you took a picture of?
According to Instagram, it’s my dog Sadie, who somehow managed to get tangled up in her new Frisbee. Don’t even ask me how it happened, but I did laugh a little when she came over and asked for help getting out.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
There are other flavors besides cookie dough?
Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?
It doesn’t matter to me as long as I’m sharing the view with the right person – and in the case of a sunrise, a nice cup of coffee as well.
Are you much of a thrill seeker?
Not in the traditional sense. I enjoy finding thrills in simple things like a good shot on the golf course or when one of my friend’s favorite teams loses a big game. I do think that I’d like to sky dive someday though.
Where did you grow up?
Mainly in Mobridge, South Dakota but I bounced around a little bit when I was younger.
What do you love most about working at Harold’s Photo Experts?
I think it’s a combination of things. I work with a great group of people and get to do something different every day. Some days I get to fix things, some days I get to create things and some days I get to talk to people about how we can improve things. I couldn’t ask for much more than that.
