Quarry Days – How to Capture Fireworks

Last weekend, Dell Rapids, SD had their town celebration – Quarry Days. Harold’s Photo Expert, Tim Breitkreutz, set up across the Sioux River to gain reflections of the fireworks in the water. Here are the tech specs for you to recreate similar shots on July 4th:

Body: Nikon D200
ISO 200
Corded remote trigger
Manual exposure, set to “bulb”

Lens: Tamron 16-300mm
Set at 16mm, (to allow for drift and various trajectories)
VC turned off
Manual focus set at infinity mark
Aperture set to f/11

Tripod: Bogen (now Manfrotto) 3030
Manfrotto 488RC2 ball head
